Legal Counsel APAC

What you will be doing:

• Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel APAC, but working collaboratively as part of a global legal team spread across 3 regions, you will partner with our Asia-Pacific sales team to negotiate commercial contracts for the provision of SaaS services to the financial services industry;
• You will support the sales team in bidding processes (including RFIs/RFPs/etc), and advise on all legal aspects of commercial deals;
• You will also draft and negotiate a range of other contracts, such as software services agreements, partnership agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and trial and development agreements;
• You will identify risks and potential liabilities and report them via appropriate channels to relevant stakeholders;
• Working with various departments across the organisation globally, you will lead and/or support initiatives to enhance and streamline documents, processes and systems, so as to ensure that our business is future-proofed from a legal perspective.

Who you are:

• Bachelors degree in law from a reputable university and admission to practise in a common law jurisdiction (Singapore, Australia/New Zealand or England and Wales preferred);
• 7+ years of relevant post-qualification experience gained in private practice and as an in-house lawyer;
• Proven expertise and experience in IT/software/technology contracting (customer or vendor side),  including demonstrated ability to lead contract negotiations;Knowledge of data protection and cybersecurity laws in the Asia-Pacific region (such as Australian data privacy laws or PDPA in Singapore), plus affinity with the GDPR;
• Understanding of the financial services industry, including applicable regulatory frameworks, would be an advantage; High-level technical legal and contract drafting skills;
• Business and results oriented with hands-on and flexible attitude;
• Motivated and enthusiastic team player with strong analytical, issue-spotting and investigatory skills; 
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills; at least one other regional language would be an advantage.
