Job Description
Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore’s largest nature reserve.
The Audio Visual Support Technician is responsible for providing technical support to students, teachers, and staff and answering general IT Audio Visual related inquiries.AV systems and support
- Setup, removal, and troubleshooting of Audio Visual hardware: projectors, interactive whiteboards, in-room speaker systems, AV boxes, media players, video conferencing devices, etc.
- Assist in different media conversion / copying / creation.
- Film and edit (production of videos) for events.
- Assist in handling schoolwide live streaming system (e.g., Morning show) related issues and liaise with support if necessary.
- Monitor and maintain a single computer to diagnose multiple Projectors within the school campus.
- Schedule and edit Projector events if needed. (eg. Automatic shutdown of projectors).
- Handle schoolwide AV managed systems (projector management software, digital signage management software).
- Manage AV resource booking.
- Supporting the school printer fleet using PaperCut
- Setup, operate and support AV hardware amp; computer systems for events off-campus when requested.
- Correspond with hardware vendors for faulty hardware units that need repair or replacement.
- Assist with the hand-over of GESS devices for donation or disposal (i.e., E-Waste).
- Assist with purchased hardware deployment to divisions
- Perform duties at the IT Service Desk
- Attend to incident and request tickets logged by users through the IT Helpdesk
- Correspond and collaborate with GESS Tech Teams (Tech Coaches and Tech Assistants) regarding AV issues and requests.
- Assist with the school’s compliance with copyright amp; intellectual property laws.
- Create reports for projectors that need filter cleaning or lamp replacement.
- Research on various AV equipment based on specific needs.
- Research and recommend AV best practices.
- Maintain the integrity, security, and availability of AV systems.
- Guide teachers and staff on the usage of AV hardware.
Knowledge and Experience
- Good knowledge in IT AV device troubleshooting, maintenance, and installations.
- Good knowledge of video conferencing technologies
- Knowledge of computer technologies like (Windows, Apple TV, Mac OS X, iOS, etc.)
- Experience working in an education setting would be an advantage
- Experience of supporting a printer fleet using PaperCut or a similar print management solution
- Diploma in Electronics / Electrical / Information Technology or equivalent
- Relevant experience in providing IT AV Support (at least two years)
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Able to work diligently, independently, and under time constraints.
- Good customer service mindset
- Positive work attitude and initiative
