Job Description

We are looking for a smart, motivated lawyer to support Amazon’s rapidly growing operations and logistics initiatives in Singapore and the ASEAN region, including new and innovative businesses and services. You will report to the Head of Legal for ASEAN and serve as the primary lawyer responsible for counselling the business on a broad range of operations, logistics, transportation and fulfilment activities.
You will work directly with the business, serving as lead counsel on strategic deals and on the launch of new products and services; negotiating, structuring and drafting complex commercial transactions; coordinating with public policy and engaging with regulators to influence pending legislation and rule-making and in response to regulatory inquiries; providing ongoing legal counselling in a wide range of areas, including fulfilment centre operations, licensing and permitting, health and safety, environmental compliance and sustainability, trade compliance, transportation, crisis management, disputes and investigations. Some travel may be required.
Job Specification
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Law degree (LLB, JD or equivalent) from a leading law school.
· Qualified to practice law in Singapore, US, UK or other Commonwealth jurisdiction.
· A minimum of 6+ years of legal experience (with several years of experience at a leading global law firm or in-house at a major multinational corporation).
· A minimum of 2+ years of experience with Singapore law.
· The successful candidate must be proactive, enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Project management experience, including excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environments
· Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense
· Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
· A team player and consensus builder with great people skills and a good sense of humor who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with lawyers and business clients at all levels throughout the organisation
· Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives
· Experience in crisis management and response
