Job Description
Lead Engineer
We’re looking for someone with equally strong problem solving and emotional intelligence ability to contribute to multiple components of our cutting edge platform. This includes providing thought leadership and hands-on development in front and or backend development, data engineering, or mentorship.
You should consider yourself to be a subject matter expert in multiple development languages and architectures. However more than that, you will bring engineering excellence to our diverse team. You should have the proven ability to contribute to any team regardless of line of business, software language, or part of the technology stack. Connected Freight strives to adopt modern cloud-native and cost-efficient best practices in our software development process. Candidates that are equally savvy in using a modern agile software development process, follow TDD, and DDD methodologies, experienced in React, TypeScript, Python, and AWS serverless architecture are highly encouraged to apply.

Due to the current COVID-19 related visa/travel restrictions enacted by MOM and ICA, we're currently unable to extend offers to anyone unable to work from Singapore due to visa/travel restrictions. Consequently, we will be prioritizing candidates who can start in Singapore by set date as expected. We're closely watching the situation and may adjust our position should restrictions be eased at a later date.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, develop and implement Connected Freights logistics solutions
- Provides mentorship to software engineers, helps to shape and drive their career growth.
- Enhance the engineering processes in the team including agile processes, design reviews and code reviews
- Break down big features to small and manageable user stories and tasks
- Reduce release timelines while balancing quality and speed
- Give guidance and code-level feedback to junior software engineers and data scientists
Requirements
Required qualifications
- Proven ability to drive software development in a team of 5-10 people, and deliver projects in the startup environment of ambiguity and constantly changing priorities
- Demonstrated success in software engineering across frontend, backend, DevOps, and data engineering.
- An avid learner with a hunger to acquire and share new knowledge and skills. We are looking forward to discussing what you have recently learned.
- Strong problem-solving skill and ability to think out of the box
- Solid knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS/Google Cloud Solution Architect certification is a plus), various programming languages (Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python are preferred), NoSQL and relational databases, and distributed service-oriented architectures
- Solid understanding of front-end technologies: React, JavaScript, TypeScript, Webpack, SASS, HTML, etc
- Experience maintaining software products in production is highly desirable. This includes data pipelines, use of big-data technologies, data warehouses, and running machine learning algorithms in production.
- Strong computer science skills, including optimization and machine learning algorithms, are highly desirable.
