We are currently looking to expand our trading operations in Singapore, offering the opportunity for traders with strong track records of returns to play a big part in these expansion plans.
YOUR IMPACT
As one of the first Traders in our Singapore office, this is an exciting opportunity to develop and grow your independent trading desk whilst contributing to the next phase of growth of a leading commodities trading house. The role offers an exhilarating challenge and continued development for someone already on a successful career path in the field. You will have the opportunity to help build out our new trading operations, with the benefit of existing function teams around you.
As a Fuel Oil / Distillates Trader for Mandara, you will have extensive knowledge of the global Fuel Oil and Distillates markets, understanding intimately the fundamentals, players, flows and balances that affect these markets. We are agnostic to trading styles as long as value generation and edges are clear.
To be successful in this role, you will be an innovative leader, focused revenue producer and values-driven performer. You will have a demonstrable and exceptional track record with clearly defined and demonstrable strategies. You will bring an entrepreneurial thirst for results and be part of a high performing, dynamic trading team working together to achieve ambitious goals. Furthermore, you will be a focused self-improver who is both driven and innovative and has the gravitas to encourage others to excel.
It is important that you have traded through multiple cycles we expect this to look like at least 5 years as a lead trader or an independent book runner. Focus on risk adjusted returns and diversification of strategies is an advantage.

Requirements
- Total ownership of trading book including strategy origination and generation, understanding and monitoring all second and third degree risks
- Working closely with direct trading team to grow franchise element of the business including the possibility of travel and entertainment of key counterparties
- Helping to build out trading capabilities in the Singapore office
- Direct training and mentoring of traders with varying levels of experience
- Upholding and living cultural values in your day to day
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE amp; PERSONAL QUALITIES
- Minimum 5 years’ experience trading Fuel Oil
- Be able to articulate clearly trading strategies employed and distinguish between PnL generated from flow and prop and to identify how much of the prop PnL is your own versus being attributable to the firm you work in.
- Experience from a bank, prop trading firm or physical merchant
- Understanding of the Fuel market pricing methodologies and how the physical market works
- Experience in training and management of traders
- Appreciation and understanding of available technologies in advancement of trading edge.
