Job Description

A world-class payment service is a big contributor to the promise of trust for Amazon’s customers.

The Digital and Emerging Payments organisation is responsible for enabling new business launches, supporting operations and enabling easier access for customers by defining, and managing, the payments experience for different customer segments across digital business lines and emerging countries

The Sr. Manager, Product Management – Acceptance and Alternate Payments will be responsible for defining the payment experience and payment methods for customers across some of key geographies in APAC for both digital business as well as some of retail/marketplace region for both traditional payment methods as well as alternate payment systems. Key Responsibilities include
a. Manage a team of product managers across multiple countries who are responsible for building new payment experiences to improve access for customers to Amazon services, ensure compliance with local and build payments parity across business in APAC countries
b. Define the strategy of customers interact with their payment methods, add payment methods to their Amazon account and select payment methods during the purchase experience.
c. Work with external payment providers both at a local and a global level on user experience definitions, commercials, coverage, contract negotiation as well as end to end integration. The ideal candidate will have experience with external partner negotiations, a strong understanding of payment acquiring and processing, and the payment user experience.
d. Build and develop innovative solutions outside of standard card acceptance to enable non-card and cash paying customers to transact on Amazon.
e. Identify, develop and invest in payment first opportunities that can help Amazon businesses gain a faster foothold in the region.
f. Needs to be effective at convincing senior executives to invest in a new product as well as leading developers to bring new products and technology to market. He/ She should be comfortable working both at the strategic level and diving deep into details as needed to ensure high quality execution.
g. Collaborate with a diverse set of internal and external teams to provide the right customer experience at the right cost. Will select, negotiate with, and manage, our external payment service suppliers (including acquirers, processors, global card networks, banks, distribution channels and other fintech providers) balancing collaboration and competition.
h. Proactively shaping the payment industry to elevate Amazon’s role. He/ She will ensure that Amazon delivers a consistent, low friction, purchase and payment experience across all surfaces while retaining our industry-leading low fraud rates, effectively removing payment related bottlenecks to digital business growth.

Job Specification

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of relevant work in product and/or business development or equivalent experience.
- People management experience in managing a high performing team of product managers
- Experience securing partnerships with complex, sophisticated counter parties in the industry.
- Sales and business development experience, gained in a high-tech, payments or e-commerce environment
- Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision.
- Experience in a growth-oriented environment, where individuals set aspirational targets and are accountable for achieving goals.
- Ability to handle the ‘hands-on’ day-to-day management of tasks, resolve problems and issues, and implement action plans to meet objectives.
- Proven analytical skills and quantitative skills with demonstrated ability to manage the business ‘by the numbers. Must be metrics-driven and able to understand complex pricing models.
- Experience working with engineers to build products that customers love.
- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly.
