Principal Software Engineer

• Translate overall department technology strategies and direction into technical components and software principles
• Model and execute on stakeholder requirements and high-level business features requests, mapping generic requirements to specific and smaller units of software products
• Keep in mind the coherence and consistency of multiple databases and business department domains to ensure that both OLTP and OLAP workloads are supported
• Drive ideation and innovation through consideration, prototyping, and end user communicating of new technologies or solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university in Computer Science,Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of professional work experience
• Proven experience in internalising high-level business requirements from stakeholders and partnering iteratively to both prototype initial builds as well as directly suggest product improvements or new features back to stakeholders, particularly within banking and financial data domains
• Full-stack development and deployment experience is required, with a particular preference on backend development working with SQL and NoSQL databases and RESTful CRUD interfaces using Python and JVM-family of languages. Node.js or Nest.js backend-development experience will also be considered.
• Development experience in a major front-end library is highly advantageous, such as with React.js or React-adjacent like Next.js. Experience working with HTMX and other templating engines can be used in lieu of front-end JavaScript experience.
• Previous project management or continuous delivery experience working with both OLTP and OLAP workloads is required
• Operational-excellence mindset and can maintain continuous monitoring and correctness of data and overall systems is a must
