Job Description
Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore’s largest nature reserve.
The L2 System Engineer (Network amp; Security) with a focus on Network amp; Security is accountable for the comprehensive management of the institution’s network and security infrastructure encompassing deployment, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and lifecycle management. This infrastructure spans across an array of hardware and software components such as wired and wireless network systems, on-premises and virtualized server environments, data center operations, network security barriers including firewalls, and ancillary networking equipment housed within wiring closets.This position mandates a synergistic approach to technical issue resolution, necessitating effective coordination with internal team members, technical personnel, stakeholders experiencing technical disruptions, and third-party vendors. Moreover, the engineer is expected to provide critical technical insight and support in the execution and advancement of various technological initiatives and projects within the organization.Key Accountabilities:

- Network Design and Maintenance: Craft and uphold wired and wireless network infrastructures, ensuring seamless connectivity and robust performance.
- Network Security: Implement and sustain endpoint protection solutions to fortify network security, safeguarding against vulnerabilities.
- Systems Support: Facilitate organizational workflow by supporting file, print, and document management systems.
- Infrastructure: Maintain wireless and structured cabling systems to bolster the network framework, enhancing overall connectivity.
- Power Supply Maintenance: Provide reliable support for UPS and ATS devices, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to critical systems.
- Network Service Administration: Efficiently administer essential network services, including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
- Diverse OS Support: Comprehensive support across various operating systems, like Macintosh, Windows, and Linux.
- Remote Access Development: Develop innovative remote access solutions to facilitate flexible working arrangements.
- Firewall Management: Configure and manage firewalls, explicitly focusing on Fortinet security solutions.
- Cisco Network Infrastructure Management: Expertly manage the Cisco network infrastructure using Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
- Cisco DNA Expertise: Utilize Cisco DNA for intelligent networking, automation, and assurance capabilities, enhancing network efficiency and user experience.
- Access Control: Utilize the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for advanced security and access control.
- Communication Solutions: Manage and deploy Cisco WebEx for efficient communication and collaboration.
- ISP Services: Managing and configuring ISP Services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least seven years of experience in network engineering, particularly with Cisco technologies.
- Proficiency in managing Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco ISE, Cisco Wireless, and Cisco DNA.
- Knowledge of Fortinet security solutions
- Well-versed in Macintosh, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
- Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player
- Prior experience in deploying and managing Cisco WebEx solutions. Experience in an educational environment will be an added advantage.
