YOUR IMPACT

We are looking for an experienced Middle Office Analyst in commodities markets within our middle office function reporting into the Risk Manager. You will have extensive experience in working alongside the front office traders and finance departments playing a key role in the management and development of the middle office function.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform PnL explain (explain PnL by desks for the day and month) and explain PnL attributes at desks level
  • Perform MO daily and monthly BAUs: T+1 recs (position, Pnl, exchange, CEM, haircut, margin reporting, AV rec) and investigating break reasons, month-end MO reporting (PnL and breaks)
  • Monitor and reconcile trade activity, open positions and PNL on a daily basis
  • Investigate Position and PNL discrepancies while also identifying any system errors
  • Prepare and report on Daily PnL for the business by desks (including VAR utilisation, win/loss ratios, peak / trough ratios etc)
  • Accurately perform monthly Price Mark checks via an independent price verification process
  • VAR (and other risk limits) live monitoring (using risk management system) and past reporting (VAR breaches, spikes, daily reporting)
  • Future (next 12 months) : reduce operational risks by automation within MO function and drive efficiency
  • Must have a control based mindset
  • Experience with and understanding of liquidity in any retained risk - whether that is marking books independently, running PruVal type calcs or liquidation; working with our Clearers to optimise margin placed etc.
  • Provide deliverables from MO on risk profile of new markets and new strategies
  • Ensure the setup of new products in all front and back office systems is in line with departmental standards, in particular ensuring risk representation and PNL methodologies are correct
  • Prepare escalation and control reports for management
  • Monitor and execute exchange clearing administration tasks such as new trader set ups and new broker/position limit requests
  • Monitoring Var Risk, position limits, stop-loss limits, drawdown limits, hard stop limits and PnL drawdowns
  • Provide invoice checks and approvals in conjunction with the finance team (for exchange and trade related invoices)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in participating in the automation of Middle Office processes
  • Must have detailed knowledge and experience working in a middle office / product control function (or team) in the commodities derivatives trading space. .
  • Must have oil derivatives (specifically futures and swaps) market knowledge (options, quant and carbon trading knowledge a plus)
  • Must be able to articulate and demonstrate broad understanding, perspectives and application of risk concepts relating to market risk, equity risk, liquidity risks, model risk and operational risk.
  • Ability to perform trader sheet marking checks and evaluating potential fiscal risk to the business
  • Proficient in Microsoft BC accounting system (have experience in posting MO entries into accounting system)
  • Good knowledge of broker and limits permissions on CME and ICE exchanges
  • Knowledge of MiFID II reporting, ABN’s Haircut risk reporting and Margin Reallocation
  • Ability to reconcile Account Values between the company and the clearing bank
  • Demonstrable experience working as a trader administrator on ICE and CME exchanges
  • Ability to monitor a company’s Current Exposure Method (CEM) Value and devise value reducing methods when needed
  • Must be able to communicate ideas and findings fluently in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong senior analysts level in role experience, aspiring to progress and learn
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the business
  • High level of commercial awareness and an interest in commodities
