Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Food Editor who will be part of our Global Editorial team. The Global Editorial team is responsible for the creation, curation and distribution of quality content that will attract and engage audiences across Cookpad’s global markets, and spread the Cookpad message to make everyday cooking fun. You will be a core part of the Global Editorial team, helping Community teams leverage user-generated content while providing our Product team with key insights on user interests in everyday cooking. To be successful in this role, you will need a strong track record as a food editor in East Asia and/or Southeast Asia and a deep understanding of home cooks as well as a passion in making everyday home cooking fun.

On Cookpad, all of the recipes are written by home cooks. You’ll be expected to develop unconventional editorial programs to unleash the power of the global community of our home cooks. To that end, you’ll be also working closely with our community managers and develop systems and processes that enable successful implementations of those programs.

As Cookpad is a global platform, global awareness and cultural versatility will be fundamental. Ideally, you are multilingual and have existing work experience spanning different geographies.

This is a hands-on, full-time contract position working remotely from East Asia or Southeast Asia.

Requirements

  • Provide our Product team with key insights on user interests in everyday home cooking in order to capture the right content in the right place at the right time on our Product.
  • Work closely with Community teams to harness their knowledge of local food trends to help them plan, shape and design their communications and editorial so community engagement efforts on the ground are designed and delivered around the right topics at the right time (including but not exclusively: in-app content and messaging, newsletters, blogs, social media campaigns and cooking challenges).
  • Set overarching themes for cooking-related programs and activities that are seasonal and locally-relevant to our countries of operations.
  • Have excellent copywriting and editing skills, and an ability to write and edit content across a range of styles, from captions to cooking blogs to newsletters to social media posts.
  • Have a passion for story-telling across a variety of platforms and channels.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven success as a food editor in East Asia and/or Southeast Asia: relevant regional work experience at highly regarded editorial institutions within the food and cooking space.
  • A fantastic communicator, comfortable with liaising with teams across cultures and languages, as well as presenting and holding workshops to communicate editorial guidelines.
  • An insight into food trends, habits and cuisines across East Asia and Southeast Asia.
  • A passion for unlocking the power of home cooking to make a difference on humanity and the planet.
