Now, about the opportunity: in the Junior Commercial Counsel position at MediaMonks Singapore, you’ll handle the day to day legal matters of our business in SEA.

This is a role where you’ll report to the Commercial Counsel APAC, partner with the rest of the legal team working across the globe and collaborate with counterparts in other functions (e.g. Finance, HR, Tax and IT/Data). Additionally, our ideal candidate is a fast and flexible go-getter who jumps on new opportunities.

In this role you will:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements to support sales, marketing, production and operations. Your primary focus will be on our MSAs, statements of work, data processing agreements, production agreements and NDAs.
  • Create, maintain, and update internal contract templates to reflect changes in the company’s business and the legal landscape.
  • Work with clients and internal teams to assist with negotiating terms to align with company policies and objectives.
  • Create and deliver internal training on topics such as IP, data and privacy, key policies and procedures and commercial contracting.
  • Analyze and mitigate potential risks involved with specific contract terms.
  • Report to Commercial Counsel APAC and work collaboratively to create contract policies and commercial strategy to ensure the support of the business as it scales.
  • Serve as primary contact for internal and external commercial contract-related inquiries.
  • Proactively identify new projects and goals needed to improve the legal function and work to accomplish them.
  • Provide guidance, legal support and advice on compliance and clearance matters for our projects in APAC.
  • Collaborating with functional counterparts to manage issues related to data, privacy, and other matters.
  • Stay current on relevant industry, commercial, IP, privacy, data, intellectual property, and other relevant regulations, and developments to adapt our commercial processes accordingly.
  • Work on various other legal projects to support the Legal team.
  • Help manage our legal administration to keep our day-to-day legal practices up-to-date.

Experience you already have:

  • 3+ years of working on commercial transactions.
  • Qualified lawyer in good standing admitted to practice in a qualified jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated experience in online advertising technologies, content, and media is preferred.
  • Experience in privacy, intellectual property, and general corporate law is a huge plus.
  • In-house experience will be favourable.
  • Attention to detail is a must, as well as an ability to understand the bigger picture.
  • Ability to work independently and generally exercise excellent judgment.
  • A self-starter who has experience developing and implementing new processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to relay legal concepts, policies, documents in a manner easily understood by non-lawyers.
  • Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment as we continue to grow our business internationally.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to stay up to date on the regional legal landscape and our industry and align our goals accordingly.
  • Enthusiastic, resourceful and able to adapt to a diverse range of projects.
  • Ability to travel internationally, including within the APAC region.
  • Must be fluent in English; ability to also speak Mandarin is preferred, but not mandatory.
