The role

You will be responsible for creating and sourcing unique, inspiring and commercial fabrics which reflect Love, Bonito’s brand image and language. You will support our Design Team through every aspect of the design process; from research to design, fabric sourcing, trims development, print colourway proposals, technical print file creation, to final approval till production. This is an exciting and varied role that requires a dynamic individual with initiative - one who thrives in a fast paced and exciting environment but can remain calm under pressure.

This role reports directly into our Head of Design.

You should have / be

  • An excellent sense of design and a clear understanding of colour theory
  • A strong understanding and knowledge of fabric qualities and materials
  • An ability to respond to any brief and adapt to suit the style required
  • Highly creative and able to build on inspirations
  • Strong experience in creating different types of print set-ups (repeat, placement print etc)
  • Adept at keeping to deadlines and working in a timely manner
  • Excellent drawing and composition skills
  • Commercially aware, with good fashion knowledge and an eye for trends
  • A strong and effective communicator and a reliable team player

Main responsibilities

Print Designing

  • Leading our Print Design direction in accordance with our monthly collection themes
  • Working with Fashion Designers to create unique, in house prints across all our business lines
  • Develop artwork from concept through pre-production within factory constraints
  • Assisting Designers in creating colourway options and print mock-ups
  • Research emerging print / graphic concepts and trends for inspiration
  • Prep existing artwork for production - create repeats and colour layers for printing
  • Following up on Print colourway strike offs and maintaining an updated library of them
  • Continuously research and develop new print techniques (silkscreen, sublimation, heat transfer) with our factory partners, in accordance to raw materials budget

Fabric amp; Trims Sourcing and Development

  • Stay in direct contact with fabric and trims manufacturers, collecting all fabric technical and cost information
  • Overseeing our internal Colour Library codes and swatches
  • Ensure proper development of fabrics and trims while meeting cost, quality and brand objectives
  • Signing off fabric colour lap dips, strike-offs
  • Attend Fabric Trade shows to source new materials and keep up to date with new material innovations
  • Keep the colour, fabric and development archive organized and updated

Garment Peripherals Development

  • Sourcing of components and trims for garment peripherals; such as hang tag ribbons and closures
  • Sourcing of alternative materials for garment peripherals and packaging
  • Development of peripherals for new categories; including branding related materials such as hangtags, clothing labels, packaging

Qualifications amp; Experience
