Job Description

Job Purpose:

Control Risks is seeking a Regional Compliance Manager to promote a strong compliance and risk management culture within our business. This role will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of company policies and supporting regional colleagues to build their understanding of their compliance and risk management responsibilities.

You must be well versed in corporate governance best practices and uphold high ethical standards.

This role will join the Legal, Risk and Compliance Team and report directly to the Senior Manager, Group Compliance. As a member of the Legal, Risk and Compliance Team, you will help service the Asia Pacific Region therefore with a dotted reporting line to the Deputy Finance Director, Asia Pacific.


Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Working with the Global General Counsel, Senior Manager, Group Compliance and Global Risk Director and regional managers to promote a strong compliance and risk management culture.
  • Use excellent interpersonal skills to engage with regional colleagues and raise awareness of their compliance and risk management responsibilities.
  • Perform periodic reviews and audits on the implementation of policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Legal, Risk and Compliance team and other corporate functions to monitor and enforce the implementation of policy and standards.
  • Support the business with their assessment of future ventures to identify possible compliance risks.
  • Prepare guidance and training on compliance and risk management issues for regional colleagues.
  • Keep abreast of evolving best practices in compliance and corporate governance.
  • Prepare reports for Global General Counsel as appropriate.
  • Understand our business be able to contextualise compliance issues in a business environment to balance business objectives with risk.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Group Compliance with the development of policies and procedures, including consultation with subject matter experts and other colleagues.
  • Support the roll out of global compliance initiatives, including being a local point of contact and providing training to build knowledge amongst regional colleagues.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the regional business units are regularly reviewing and updating their risk registers.
  • Understand the structure of the Group Insurance Programme and be able to provide answers/direction to the regional business and act as a triage to the Group Risk function.
  • Provide support on the rollout of group risk initiatives and group control programmes.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc) required
  • Proven experience as a compliance manager, with minimum of 4 years working in a compliance function
  • A business acumen partnered with a dedication to corporate governance
  • Methodical and diligent with excellent attention to detail
  • Outstanding planning abilities
  • An analytical mind able to understand complex procedures and operational detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to bring people along with them

Preferred:
  • Relevant governance, risk or compliance qualification
